Role opens kung fu gate for Yue

Actor Shawn Yue Man-lok says he believes he can handle any action movie challenge after completing Yip Wai-shun's Dragon Tiger Gate.

The movie, co-starring Nicholas Tse Ting-fung and action star Donnie Yen Ji-dan, is based on the popular comic Oriental Heroes - aka Lung Fu Mun. Yue (right) plays Shek Hak-lung, who is a skilled exponent of nunchakus.

The 24-year-old said he was worried before filming started. 'I didn't have any experience with kung fu movies. There were so many action scenes - I thought I wouldn't meet the required standard.'

After one of the tougher action scenes, Yue (right) suffered an asthma attack and almost passed out. 'It was about minus-five degrees Celsius,' he said. 'I was on the ground after finishing an action scene.'

Dragon Tiger Gate opens on July 28
