Let the style wars begin

It's going to be a busy week for fashion fans around town. Normally, different brands try to schedule events around each other so they don't clash and have to compete for socialites and the media. However, this week there are some serious head-to-head style battles.

Tomorrow it's Celine versus Marc Jacobs; one is hosting its spring/summer show at the China Resources Building at the same time as the other is presenting at Cuisine Cuisine. Celine boasts its event will be attended by TVB artist Maggie Cheung Ho-yee (left), while Jacobs brags Gigi Leung Wing-kei (right) will be a special guest model.

Round two on Thursday features Fendi booking the whole Stanley Piazza for a major fashion show, while Lane Crawford is betting the social set would rather stay in Central for its main event at IFC.

'We normally check around town to see what's happening,' says Lane Crawford's PR manager, Jenny Mak. 'We've been planning our event for a while so it's not on purpose. Last year, we opened two stores, so this year we want to focus on our new collections and do a big show.'
