Students in catwalk contest

City University (CityU) students dominated the first inter-university catwalk competition, held earlier this month.

The event was the final-year project of three students - Jen Fong Ling, Crystal Kwan Lai-man and Beata So Pui-ling - all studying for an Associate Degree of Arts in English for Professional Communication.

The trio organised the event entirely on their own - from searching for sponsors to inviting guests and judges.

Tami Kwong from CityU won the Best Model Award and was voted My Favourite Model by the audience of 400. The Most Promising Model award went to Kerry Ma, also from CityU.

More than 100 female students from 10 universities and post-secondary institutes competed for 15 places in the final on March 1. All finalists were given catwalk and make-up training.

The trio said they were delighted to have made the girls' dream come true. They also noticed that more and more university students were looking to modelling as part-time jobs or even full-time careers after graduation.

The judges included actress Isabella Leong, make-up artist Janae Chan and Kim Chou, the director of a local modelling agency.
