police seek parents of abandoned baby boy

Police are searching for the parents of a baby boy found abandoned in a female toilet at North District Hospital, Sheung Shui, last month. The boy is about one month old and was found on the floor in a first-floor toilet on February 28. He was wearing a blue coat, yellow trousers and yellow overcoat and was wrapped in a blue and pink blanket. Anyone with information should contact police on 2675 3316 or 2675 3311.

councillor arrested after driving row

Kwai Tsing district councillor Lui Ko-wai and a friend were arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice after allegedly fighting with a couple over driving etiquette. The altercation occurred after the four arrived in two cars at Cheung Hang Estate, Tsing Yi, at 3.30am. All four were arrested and released on bail of $2,000.

Police seek help over minibus fatality

Police are appealing for information on a fatal accident at the junction of Prince Edward Road West and Lai Chi Kok Road at 11.30am on January 11, in which a 78-year-old man was hit by a minibus. He died last week. Anyone with information should call 2773 5258 or 2773 5220.

teller foils bank robbery

A man fled empty handed after trying to rob the Wan Chai branch of the Bank of East Asia in Johnston Road at 2.30pm. He had drawn a pistol-like object and demanded money. The would-be robber fled when the teller pressed a panic button.

Appeal cuts sentence

The Court of Appeal cut convicted burglar Pang Wai-keung's jail time by six months after finding the sentencing judge failed to take into account time already served for an earlier offence when he meted out a two-year term last October.
