Two police shot in TST gunfight

Martin Wong

Two uniformed police officers were shot in the head after they stopped a man acting suspiciously in Tsim Sha Tsui early today.

A third man, believed to be the gunman, was also rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital with bullet wounds.

A police source said the two uniformed police officers were carrying out a stop-and-search operation at the junction of Canton Road and Austin Road, near a subway to the Victoria Towers housing estate, shortly before 1.30am.

It is believed the man, when challenged, took out a gun and shot one of the officers in the head. A second officer managed to fire a shot at the suspect, before being shot himself. The condition of the two officers and the gunman was not known.
