Achievements: Christy earned valuable points for Good Hope when she dominated the middle-distance races at the recent Division One inter-school athletics championships. She won both the Grade A 800 metres and 1,500m races, and ran the second leg for the winning 4x400m relay team, a result which clinched the overall title for her school.
Last month she clocked an impressive 1 hour, 34 minutes to top the women's junior category in the Standard Chartered Half-Marathon, a gruelling 21-kilometre road race which started in Tsim Sha Tsui and ended in Wan Chai.
She trains with the Pacers Athletic Club, and is a member of the Hong Kong Potential Elite squad. Her personal best for the 1,500m is 5 minutes, 02 seconds, and she is the record holder in the A1 age group.
Soundbite: 'I became a long-distance runner when I was in Form One. I had a lot of chances to represent Hong Kong, which gave me a sense of satisfaction and identified my ability. Athletics suits me more than any other sport.'
From her coach: 'Christy is determined to improve and showed her talent when she won the junior title in the Standard Chartered Half-Marathon,' said Pacers' coach Yap Kai-tak.
'She needs to study this year, but next year she can target the junior half-marathon record.'
Ambitions: Christy is preparing to run her personal best in the half-marathon in Xiamen , Fujian province , on Saturday.
She is also hoping to do well at the schools' inter-port competition next month.
She wants to break the 800m A1 age-group record and is aiming to study at the University of Hong Kong.
