New KCRC chief executive James Blake arrives at the corporation's headquarters in Fo Tan yesterday for his first day in the job. The 72-year-old, who faces his first challenge tomorrow in a meeting with unions, said he was sentimental about returning to the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation after a two-year absence.
'I worked here for seven years, so it was almost like coming home,' Mr Blake said. 'I hope that today, and going forward, I should be able to contribute to the KCRC's ongoing success, and that we can firmly put behind us the troubles in the last week or so.'
KCRC acting chief executive Samuel Lai Man-hay resigned after a managerial feud last week.
