AT A GLANCE: BENTLEY FLYING SPUR

Volkswagen

What drives it? A massive six-litre, 552 brake-horsepowered twin-turbocharged, 12-cylinder engine; and a six-speed, paddleshift ZF gearbox with Tiptronic actuation. It has alloy wheels with P275/40R19 tyres, disc brakes and independent suspension all round

How fast is it? An impressive 0-100 km/h in 5.2 seconds and a 312km/h top speed that sounds silly for Hong Kong's more restricted highways

How safe is it? Twin front, curtain and side airbags, anti-lock braking system, stability control.

How thirsty is it? In the city, 26.4 litres; on the highway, 12.7 litres per 100km on 90-litre tank

Clean or mean? Mean. Britain's The Guardian says the Flying Spur spews 423g of CO2 per km; about the fug equivalent of 4.7 Smart Fortwos. Available for $2.92 million from Bentley (tel: 2890 1918)
