Lensman puts cheap shot in perspective

A mountain out of a molehill or another case of a big corporate meanie screwing the little guy? Last week, photographer Graham Uden was contacted by the Lan Kwai Fong Association for the use of some of his work. However, when told the organisation was 'non-profit' and asked if he could settle for 'a few beers' instead of a fee, the shutterbug was suitably miffed. Uden replied in writing: 'I don't understand the charity aspect of this when it's promoting the businesses of Lan Kwai Fong.'

When contacted by CitySeen, association spokesman Terence Loo Tai-ling explained: 'We received a free ad, which required some Rugby Sevens-related photography. There was no budget for anything other than film production ... Similar to the HK Tourism Board, the LKFA does not profit from these arrangements; it just receives a very nominal joining fee from members.'

We don't think Uden will be patronising Lan Kwai Fong for a while.
