Boy oh boy! Lau is not a muse

Graffiti artist JonOne (John Perello) is back in town. This time he's on a commission from clothier MaxMara to create pieces for their new Prince's Building shop, including one in honour of a local star.

Perello claims the Carina Longchair was painted with the actress Carina Lau Ka-ling in mind.

'With her perfect figure, she's like an Asian Marilyn Monroe,' JonOne explains, even though he'd never seen her movies nor met her before working on the chair.

'I listened to the theme for In the Mood for Love when creating the chair.' Yo, wrong film, homie. You're thinking of Maggie Cheung Man-yuk.

For her part, Lau (left with Perello), played down her feminine allure at the store opening. 'I don't think of myself as a sex symbol. I'm not in any way like Marilyn Monroe. The way I think is more boyish. I'm like a boy trapped in a woman's body.'
