Welcome to cyber tutorials

Lilian Goh

Ten secondary schools, with the technical support of the Hong Kong Baptist University, have set up an online tutorial platform for HKAL students to prepare for the exam at home.

The 10 schools joining the 'v-sharing' online learning community are: CSBS Mrs Aw Boon Haw Secondary School, HKWMA Chu Shek Lun Secondary School, YCH Wong Wha San Secondary School, Tsang Pik Shan Secondary School, NTHYK Tai Po District Secondary School, YMCA of Hong Kong Christian College, Rosaryhill School, Ho Lap College, Sung Lan Middle School and Buddhist Fat Ho Memorial College.

Until April 21, students can access the site and attend tutorials in the virtual classroom developed by the university for students on study vacation at home.

Teachers can publish a tutorial schedule and post revision materials for access by students on the site.

Teachers can also appear online and give lessons via a webcam. If students have questions, they can post them in the chat room, which is accessible to students and teachers.

The programme was first initiated by four secondary schools last year. The principals believe the programme can save students' time, preventing the need for them to return to their schools for tutorials. Also, the 10 schools' Form Seven students can attend other teachers' and schools' lessons and tutorials for their courses.

Youth organisation Youth Kwun Tong are also giving out about 100 free log-in accounts for students from other schools.
