A non-governmental organisation wants a social worker to develop a harmonious community on Lamma Island.
Hans Andersen Club provides social services to underprivileged children in remote regions. Its staff are committed to bringing changes in society by giving children and their families opportunities for social integration.
The executive director of the club, May Kwan Wong, said: 'We are a small organisation well known for our story telling and social services.'
The organisation needs a mature community project worker on a short-term contract to oversee services for a community inclusion and investment project, named Sunshine Community of Lamma Island, which began in April last year and will continue until March 2008.
According to Ms Wong, the project aims to co-ordinate activities among indigenous residents, newly arrived families and ethnic minority groups to nurture the development of the young.
The project worker will supervise an after-school care programme, run volunteer groups, organise exhibitions, carnivals and cultural performances, and attend to administrative duties.
