online tips for a-level exams


Baptist University has launched an internet platform to help students share study tips for A-level exams, which began yesterday. Established in collaboration with 10 secondary schools, the website uses visual software to provide online tutorials and advice to help students cope with exams. cityu writers have best impressions


Nearly half the prizes in the City Literary Award, a highlight of the City University literary festival, have been won by its own students. Writers could submit Chinese non-fiction prose, short stories or poetry on the theme 'Impression of a City' for the award, which was adjudicated by eight renowned writers.

Seven local scientists have been awarded research fellowships by the Croucher Foundation. The scholars include three researchers from Chinese University of Hong Kong: Professor Chow Hak-fun from the department of chemistry, Professor Huang Jie from the department of automation and computer-aided engineering, and Professor Dennis Lo Ming-luk from the department of chemical pathology. Artificial intelligence expert Lin Fangzhen, associate professor of computer science at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology was also among the recipients of the awards. The fellowships are worth about US$100,000, and each winner also received a cash bonus of $40,000.

The Get Foundation is offering two scholarships for Hong Kong students planning to study at US universities. The US$5,000 scholarships are awarded according to academic promise and financial need. Applications need to reach the foundation by April 15. For more details, visit www.thegetfoundation.org. The American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong is offering another scholarship for students going to US universities, worth $16,000. Applications for this scholarship must also be in by April 15.
