Trying to justify its perfidy

FOR a long time the British Government under Prime Minister Major, has denied that it has had any talks with the IRA, that gang of merciless murderers, but within the past few days, to the disgust, dismay and anger of most honest people, it has been revealed by the IRA, that secret talks have in fact been taking place.

Instead of offering any apology for this deception, the British Government is trying to justify its perfidy by saying it was attempting, by this means, to find peace.
