I was flicked and combed ... and didn't feel half-bad the next day

Tara Jenkins

Pranic healer Roger McCaughey (right) asks me to sit in a chair in the centre of the room, while he prepares a bowl of salt water, which he puts on the floor about a metre away.

He asks me to read an invocation stating that I am willing to receive the healing, and that I am grateful for any benefits I may gain.

He spends a few minutes using what he says are the chakras in his hands to assess my aura. He does this by cupping his hands and feeling the air about 10cm above my head and shoulders.

Then the pranic healing begins, with McCaughey making sweeping motions around my body. He says the negative energy is cleansed and dumped by being flicked into the bowl of salt water near my feet.

Using open hands, he then does what he says is 'combing' my aura to smooth and cleanse it and to relieve tension.

He also uses a large crystal to cleanse my throat chakra, which he says is congested. McCaughey suggests that this may be because I'm not communicating clearly, or have been untruthful.

During the session I feel a strange swirling sensation in my throat. That night I sleep badly, but feel rested and energetic the next day. McCaughey says pranic healing infuses the body with energy, and that my reaction is normal.
