What is it?

Known as 'power management' by less new-agey people, it's basically about using energy to create the kind of life you want.

Sounds like life coaching:

Fair call. Chris Taylor (right) is certainly a good listener and motivator. What sets this apart from life coaching is that Taylor relates everything back to energy.

Energy as in chi?

Chi, prana, whatever you want to call it ... it's the life force that's said to run through us all. You don't need to believe in chi to benefit from the treatment, but it makes the session more fun.

How does it work?

I was late for the appointment and arrived out of breath. Taylor said my energy seemed to be all over the place. We sat opposite each other and he held one hand out towards me with which he said he was focusing my energy. Then he went through each of my chakras - the body's energy nodes - and helped clean them up.

How did he do that?

He said he could see my chakras. I had my doubts, although he said a few things about me that were accurate. Each chakra relates to a different aspect of your nature (love, self-expression, creativity).

He's a clairvoyant, too?

Yes. He's a professional healer and psychic. But Taylor didn't focus so much on predicting the future as asking me what I wanted to achieve - my hopes and goals.

So, we're back to the life coach.

Yes, except Taylor says with his techniques, you can manifest the things you want even faster. His advice was all to do with overcoming fears and doubts.

Where is it and how much does it cost?

A one-hour session with Taylor is $950. He'll also hold courses on energy systems at Zama International, G/F, 48-52 Peel Street. Inquiries about course details: 2850 6400
