CARVING EGG-XTRAVAGANZA IN SHA TIN

Artist Greg Martin will demonstrate his knack for carving designs on hollow ostrich eggs at the Sha Tin New Town Plaza.

The American artist is renowned for carving the Nasa logo on an ostrich egg for the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington DC.

The exhibition features 40 carved eggs from ostriches and emus based on five themes: Kingdom of the Wilderness; Gracefulness of Nature; Wonders of the World; People of the Century; and A Touch of Elegance.

Martin has also spent time during his visit carving designs with a Hong Kong theme into an ostrich egg and an emu egg.

Visitors can have their pictures taken with an ostrich egg during the exhibition.

The demonstrations will take place at 3pm and 4.30pm every day until Monday.

ANCIENT DINOSAUR FOSSILS ON DISPLAY

Two fossilised dinosaur eggs will be on display until Tuesday at Olympic City in Tai Kok Tsui.

The fossilised eggs are from the Zigong Dinosaur Museum in Sichuan province . One of the dinosaur eggs dates back to the late Cretaceous age, about 65 million years ago.

The two eggs are part of a display of 25 rare eggs that includes eggs from the Beijing Museum of Natural History and others from museums around the world, including emu eggs from Australia.

Admission is free from 10am to 10pm.
