Awards for fund-raising effort

Schools received recognition for their fund-raising efforts for Community Chest at an award and cheque presentation ceremony last week.

Kindergarten, primary and secondary students were among the 12,000 volunteers involved in the charity's Street Flag Sale and Gold Flag Sale on November 26 last year.

The flag sales raised a total of $3.3 million for Community Chest's services for the mentally handicapped.

The event gave students the chance to take part in a charity event and help people in need.

CCC Ming Kei College, which had 570 students selling flags, received the Highest Number

of Participants award in the Street Flag Sale's school category.

It ranked second in the Top 10 Participation Rate, which calculates the percentage of participants among the total number of students. Delia Memorial School (Taikoo Shing) topped the list.

In the Gold Flag Sale, Chan's Creative School won the Top Fund-raiser award in the school category, as well as the Outstanding Contribution (individual category) award and the Outstanding Award for Per Capita Contribution.

Creative Kindergarten won the Top Fund-raiser award in the educational institution category.

Hong Kong Red Cross and Junior Police Call received awards for the Highest Number of Participants in the social welfare organisation category and other organisation category, respectively.
