The Spanish Speaking Women's Association held its annual carnival in late February at the New Era club in Tsim Sha Tsui. More than 140 revellers attended the 29th annual event, dressing up for the Venetian-themed masquerade ball.

The highlight of the night was the judging of the best costumes. Idamis Regan won for best female, Alex Meerovitsch's Russian attire won him best male.

Mexico's Consul-General Mario Leal Campos and wife Patricia took the best couple prize, and the 14-strong Sol y Luna Venetian Fantasy, headed by Stephanie Morton and Beatriz Marino Tancock, won best group.
