Fireman arrested over death of saleswoman

A fireman was arrested last night after allegedly killing a saleswoman in his Tseung Kwan O flat and dumping her body. Police said a woman's body was found in a parking space in Tai Mo Shan Country Park. The fireman, stationed at Tsim Sha Tsui station, was later taken back to his home on the 17th floor of Sheung Yee House, a public housing estate. Forensic officers were also sent there and a large amount of evidence was taken away.

Businessman to appear in court on fraud charges

A former shareholder in an investment company is due to appear in Kwun Tong Court today on charges of swindling $6.3 million from the company. Dai Shu-sing, 52, who held a stake in Mart Treasure Investment, has been charged with one count of conspiracy to defraud and five counts of theft. Dai allegedly swindled $5 million from the company during its involvement in a small housing development project in the New Territories. He is also accused of stealing $1.3 million from the company. Dai was arrested in Vancouver, Canada, in May 2004 at the request of Hong Kong authorities. Earlier this month, the Court of Appeal in British Columbia ordered Dai to return to Hong Kong to stand trial.

One killed, four hurt in three-vehicle collision

The 25-year-old driver of a van was killed in a three-vehicle accident in Yuen Long, police said. A taxi and a minibus were stopped at a red light at the corner of Castle Peak Road and Hung Tin Road when the van hit the bus from behind, and the bus then hit the taxi. The van driver was certified dead at 5.40am at Tuen Mun hospital. Four others were treated for various injuries.

Crane man falls to death

A 44-year-old construction worker died after falling more than 40 metres while working on a crane at the Kwai Chung container terminal. The Labour Department is investigating.
