two boys in hospital after road accidents

A 12-year-old boy was in a serious condition and another boy, five, was recovering last night after they were injured in traffic accidents in Tuen Mun and Tsing Yi. The elder boy was knocked down by a car while crossing Liu To Road outside Cheung Hang Estate just before 8am. He was in a serious condition in Princess Margaret Hospital. The five-year-old was hit by a minibus in Wu Chui Road outside Melody Garden, Tuen Mun, at 8am. He suffered minor head injuries.

appeal for witnesses over crash fatality

Police are appealing for information on a crash in which a 25-year-old driver died when he was thrown from a van. The driver lost control of the van, bound for Tseung Kwan O, after leaving Tseung Kwan O Tunnel. The vehicle struck a crash barrier and overturned. A passenger, 26, was slightly hurt. The two men were taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital where the driver was pronounced dead. Witnesses can call 2305 7571 or 2305 7500.

bags stolen from fair

Police are investigating the theft of handbags worth $100,000 from the Convention and Exhibition Centre. The 150 bags, packed in four boxes, were found missing when an exhibitor and a delivery worker were checking stock at the end of a housewares fair.

Gang attack on two men

Two men needed hospital treatment after being attacked by at least 10 men in a park in Liu To Road outside the Cheung Hang Estate in Tsing Yi shortly before 3am. The attackers fled on foot and by taxi before police arrived.

No one won first prize in last night's draw. The numbers were 2, 24, 26, 29, 32 and 33. The extra number was 6. Two tickets each won the second prize of $841,875. Third prize paid $46,285.
