Everyone wants to be successful and enjoy the feeling of triumph.  But  not everyone can achieve their goals.  So, what is the main factor in building success?  It's confidence.

Would you want to listen to a speech, for example, by someone who is uneasy?  No, you would prefer a confident presenter.  Seeing a confident person makes you feel happy and satisfied.

What would the examiner in your oral assessment think  if you stuttered during your speech?  Would you get high marks?

The key to success is  confidence in yourself.

Thanks for your letter Wing-yan. I totally agree with you about the importance of confidence. Confidence can make a huge difference to the quality of your life.

We sometimes lose our confidence when someone says something negative about us - they might criticise the way we look or our abilities. It is important to learn from your mistakes, but not to take criticism to heart.

If you feel in need of a confidence boost, write down a list of all the things that you are good at (they are probably things you enjoy too). Don't forget to include attributes - for example, you might be patient, or kind. When you look at the list, you'll realise you've got plenty of things to feel good about.
