It's heartbreak for Fu in World Championship
Hong Kong's Marco Fu Ka-Chun suffered a heartbreaking defeat to Peter Ebdon of England 17-16 in the World Championship semi-final in Sheffield, England yesterday.
Fu started the final session of play 15-9 behind the 2002 champion and looked to be heading for a hiding.
However, he managed to claw his way back and rediscover the form that had taken him to the last four at the Crucible Theatre, to win the next six frames to draw level 15-15.
The Hong Kong player was lucky to get two chances to win the first frame of the session, but improved to take the next with a 68 break.
It was enough to give Fu a new lease of life and he suddenly began reeling off frames to get himself back into the match.
He rattled off superb breaks of 100, 52, 75 and 103 to get back on terms, and with everything left to play for.
Ebdon then took the next frame 73-0, before Fu fought back once again to level it at 16-16.
In the deciding frame though Ebdon brought Fu's gallant effort to an end, winning it 89-13
