Let's protect our planet ... before it's too late

Do you think one day, humans will all live in space? The many missions to study Mars, Venus and other planets suggest that we might.

As people on Earth are exhausting its resources, I think we will soon destroy this planet and have to find a new place for humans to live.

But before that happens, we should protect our own planet first. All of us can do this, by using less air-conditioning, fewer plastic products and being more sensitive to nature. We must consider the consequences of our actions every day.

The Earth is our homeland, it is beautiful and it is our responsibility to protect it.

JESSIE CHING

Leung Shek Chee College I agree with you, Jessie. I too find space exploration fascinating. Things are happening very quickly in this field - every week we hear of a new development. But our primary concern must be our own planet.

Your suggestions for looking after our planet are all sound. I hope that this summer you take advantage of the holiday to get out and about in the countryside. Hong Kong has some fabulous country parks and beaches. When you've spent a full day outside, surrounded by greenery, you will feel even more protective over our environment.

My favourite spot is Tai Long Wan - it is

well worth the hiking a few hours to get to the beautiful, isolated beach.
