Woman found dead near empty insecticide bottle


A 36-year-old woman living with a married man was found dead beside an empty bottle of insect killer at her flat in Western. Police found five suicide notes in the flat. In a separate case, police are trying to identify the body of an elderly man who jumped to his death at Dragon Centre in Yen Chow Street, Shamshuipo, at 8.30am.


knife-wielding father held for wounding son


A 22-year-old man was injured when he intervened in a fight between his parents in Wong Tai Sin. The son said he had heard his parents arguing in their room at the family's flat at Kam Pik House, Choi Hung Estate, at 8.30am. When he went to check, he saw his father threatening his mother with a knife and tried to snatch it, injuring his right hand. His father, 47, was arrested.


elderly pedestrian dies after being hit by minibus


An 81-year-old woman died in hospital after being knocked down by a minibus in Kwai Chung. Szeto Lai was crossing Kwai Foo Road when the vehicle turned right off Kwai Chung Road and knocked her down shortly before 5.30am. Witnesses can contact police on 3661 1300 or 3661 1345.


man drowns while taking a dip at clear water bay


A man who worked overnight and then went swimming died at Clear Water Bay Second Beach in Sai Kung yesterday. A lifeguard saw Sin Wai-keung, 38, floundering about 10 metres from shore at 1pm. He was semi-conscious when rescued but was declared dead at Tseung Kwan O Hospital.


crackdown on bad driving


Police issued 241 fixed-penalty tickets, 106 summonses and 154 verbal warnings for traffic violations during Regional Traffic Day in Kowloon East on Monday. In the first four months of this year, 607 accidents were reported in the area.

One ticket won the $5 million first prize in last night's draw. The numbers were 18, 22, 24, 25, 26 and 43. The extra number was 23. Fifteen tickets each won second prize of $56,545. Third prize paid $15,815.
