Speed and style

This year Audemars Piguet has launched a second Maserati timepiece that is certain to capture the imagination of the many enthusiasts who appreciate fine watches and fast cars.

The company has close ties with the famous Italian car manufacturer and is also the official sponsor of the MC12 cars taking part in the Grand Touring competitions. Audemars Piguet's first Maserati watch, a dual-time model, was launched in 2004 to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the legendary carmaker.

This year's new model is the Audemars Piguet Millenary MC12 Tourbillon, produced as a tribute to the MC12. The watch features twin barrels providing a 10-day power reserve and a column-wheel chronograph. The names of Maserati and Audemars Piguet are featured clearly on the barrels, which can be seen through the open dial. This piece is in a limited series of 150 in platinum. The designers paid tribute to the hi-tech construction of the MC12 by using a carbon mainplate for optimum lightness and blue eloxed bridges.

The MC12 marked Maserati's return to motor sports competition. The design of this tourbillon's movement was inspired by a Maserati engine and its clean lines may blow a fresh wind of change through haute horlogerie workshops.
