Language skills put to test

senior primary school pupils are invited to participate in the 15th annual Children's Silver Tongue Contest.

Organised by the North District Junior Chamber, the competition aims to help Primary Five and Six children improve their English, Cantonese and Putonghua skills.

Under this year's theme 'Altruistic Love, Trust & Justice Build a Harmonious Society', participants are required to submit two articles - one in Chinese and the other in English - by June 9.

The best 35 candidates will be shortlisted for the semi-finals on June 24, when they will be asked to read two passages in Putonghua and English. They will also take part in a group discussion and answer questions from a panel of judges based on the theme.

The 10 finalists will meet at City University on July 16. The top three winners will be invited to join the International Children's Cultural Exchange Camp in Taiwan this August.
