Newsagent injured in hit and run accident

A shopkeeper, 55, was injured when a car hit his news stand in Fa Yuen Street, Mongkok, yesterday morning. The driver fled the scene, but the car was later found. Police arrested the owner for being in charge of a vehicle while over the alcohol limit, but it was not known if he was involved in the accident. The victim was discharged after being treated at hospital.

30 arrested for gambling

Thirty men were arrested for illegal gambling at two restaurants at Tin Chak Estate, Tin Shui Wai. Among them was a 47-year-old suspected to have been taking the illegal bets. Police seized betting slips, account books and $2,300 in cash.

5 held in drug raid

Police arrested a man and woman in a flat at Fuk Wing Street, Shamshuipo, for drug trafficking. Officers seized six grams of cocaine worth $2,400. Three other men were also arrested at the flat for smoking dangerous drugs.

Mall burglar nabbed

A man, 43, was arrested for burglary after being caught pushing a trolley containing $4,000 worth of cable and wires along Ma Tau Wai Road in Hunghom. He later admitted stealing them from a nearby shopping mall.

Man arrested for assault

A man, 35, was arrested for assaulting police officers at a flat in King's Road, Chai Wan. Police said the man's wife sought help after he began hitting his father, 61, after drinking wine. Three police officers went to the flat and were attacked. They were treated for minor injuries at Eastern Hospital.
