Blondie to headline at FCC ball

This week, the Foreign Correspondents Club announced details of its fifth annual charity ball. The headline entertainers for the September 15 social will be 1980s New York sensation Blondie. That's right, singer Deborah Harry (below) and the rest of her new wave band - who were inducted onto Hollywood's Rockwalk last week - will be cranking out hits like Heart of Glass, Call Me and Rapture at the FCC Ball at the Convention and Exhibition Centre as part of an autumn Asian tour. Considering previous acts at the event were The Beach Boys, The Temptations and Motown star Martha Reeves , this appears to be the FCC's idea of appealing to a younger crowd. The ball will raise funds for the Po Leung Kuk Scholarship Fund and its language training programme. Tickets are $1,688. Call the FCC at 2521 1511 or e-mail [email protected]. Don't forget your 80s retro gear.
