Paper work

It seems minimalism is being left behind by bold, colourful, larger-than-life patterns perfect for walls uninterrupted by doors or windows. Take the flamboyant work of Cole & Son's design director,

Karen Beauchamp, and architectural historian David Easton. The pair have produced a collection of wallpaper boasting oversized designs in unusual hues. Magnolia (right), one of the many new works, is a lustrous oriental interpretation of blossoms in gentle shades of gold and pink. Tropical Lily (far right), from the British firm's archive, is an art-deco botanical pattern of flat-faced flowers and leaves. Both cost $770 for a 10-metre roll.
