Where? In Berlin, next to the Winterfeldtplatz, which is famous for having a food market that stocks an outstanding range of handmade and unique products. The shop is close to the Schoneberg district and the name means 'selected trainers'.
Who? The owners, Krystian Jasny and Sascha Oechsner, opened the store in December 2004. With a passion for special and rare trainers, the duo wanted to cater to adults and stand out from other, teen-oriented trainer shops.
Fashion finds? Snika stocks the highly desirable and rare trainers from Spanish label Kowalski. Other brands from across the globe include Lacoste, Japanese label Onitsuka Tiger, Asics, Shoto, Quick , Zeha, Puma and Zeha-Berlin. The boutique boasts limited editions that are not available anywhere else in Berlin. The shop also carries handmade bags from Japanese cult designer Tsubasa, plus sporty laptop bags from German brand Quer and Berlin-based label tausche-Tasche (exchange bag), which have interchangeable covers in numerous colours.
The vibe: minimalism is alive and kicking in this store. The interior design and the products are super sleek and simple.
The crowd: you name them and you'll find them here. The customers range in age from 15 to 65 and include fashionistas, artists, politicians and actors.
Extras: the boutique features up-and-coming brands such as the Berlin-based label Max Beer, which produces high-quality handmade trainers. The comfortable shoes are strictly limited edition and incorporate eco-friendly materials such as coco and jute fibre, as well as leather. New stock is regularly added to the shelves.
