Balfour in Metro deal
BALFOUR Beatty Power Construction, the building arm of BICC, has signed an agreement to set up the overhead catenary system for phase one of the Guangzhou Metro project.
The contract, valued at GBP11 million (about HK$127 million), will be for the design, supply of materials and supervision of installation for the 54-kilometre system.
A formal contract is expected to be signed early next year with the Guangzhou authorities, which are buying the equipment on behalf of the Guangzhou Metro Corp.
The project follows the award to the company in 1991 of a GBP24 million contract to modernise Line One of the Beijing Metro.
