Bank branch seeks manager for front office

People with financial management acumen will thrive in the position available at a Hong Kong branch of a leading Malaysian bank.

Hong Leong Bank is a well-established bank in Malaysia with more than 185 branches, including offices in Singapore and Hong Kong. The bank is also a major associate of the Guoco Group in Hong Kong, which is listed on the Hong Kong stock exchange.

The bank is looking for a high-calibre professional to join its Hong Kong branch team as manager, front office management, to support its treasury team.

This will involve providing assistance on market risk management and control, and development of treasury structured products and work processes. It will also be necessary to co-ordinate with the head office in Malaysia on matters related to the management of global treasury risk and exposure.

To handle this important role, the right candidate must have a minimum of four years of relevant experience in treasury dealing, processing and risk management gained from banks or financial institutions. Hong Leong Bank said that prior experience in middle office structure and management was preferred.

Applicants should have a passion for finance and thorough knowledge of a wide variety of financial products and services, including treasury structured products, and a sound understanding of treasury risks and ways of mitigation.

This management position involves a lot of liaison with the relevant teams, so the right candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be a strong team player.

A person with versatility is required to be able to cope with the constantly changing business and banking environment. The new manager should also be able to work well under pressure.

Financial managers who pride themselves on their attention to detail are ideally suited for the position as the job involves the accurate analysis and interpretation of complex financial data. The successful candidate will need to be able to identify key issues in data and have a strong corporate governance mindset.

The role will involve overseas travel, so a good command of written and spoken English is needed. Candidates will also be required to communicate in Chinese, mainly in Cantonese, while proficiency in Putonghua is preferred.

Being IT savvy would be beneficial and a knowledge of Microsoft Office is a prerequisite. Macro programming and experience in the Murex System would be an advantage.
