Shoppers in Tsim Sha Tsui caught a first glimpse of the Aqua Fantasia multimedia water show last night during a 30-minute test run beside the clock tower.

The show is part of the city's two-month long Shopping Festival, which starts at the end of next week.

This year's festival has more shops participating and a promotional budget up 20 per cent on last year, to $14 million. More than 7,500 shops and 33 malls and department stores will take part. Almost half will extend their opening hours to 10pm. The Tourism Board says the event is expected to attract 4.6 million visitors, expected to spend an average of $4,600 during the festival.

Shoppers spending more than $300 during the festival will be eligible for entry in a grand draw for 113 prizes worth a total of more than $2.7 million.
