Chinese cuisine occupies Special place on menu

A special 'recommended menu' with an emphasis on Chinese cuisine is being prepared for 2008 athletes. Deng Tingfu of the Ministry of Commerce told Xinhua that to highlight the Chinese characteristics, most of the 100 courses on the Olympic menu would be Chinese, and arranged by the China Cuisine Association. Deng said an expert panel would be responsible for the nutrition of each course, which will be exhibited at the Second China Catering Exposition in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, in October.

Cuban delegation gets aquainted with beijing

Cuba's National Sports, Physical Education and Recreation Institute president, Christian Jimenez, arrived in China this week and met with Lui Peng, the chief of China's State Sports Management. Jimenez and his delegation toured the headquarters of the Beijing Organising Committee of the 2008 Olympic Games (Bocog), and a drug-testing laboratory. They visited a sports university and the facilities being built for the Olympics.

Unite for 2008 games, Rogge advises two Koreas

International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Jacques Rogge has urged South and North Korea to form a single team for the 2008 Games. According to the South Korean Yonhap news agency, in letters to both South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun and North Korean leader Kim Jong-il on June 7, Rogge said he would do his best to help them field a single team for the global sports event.
