Hefty, pricey hi-fi gear for the decadent

If you ever need a pair of US$150,000 speakers, then the Audio Chamber is the place to go. The recently opened high-end hi-fi shop held a mini-cocktail party in its Duddell Street showroom, which conveniently has an outdoor patio, perfect for cocktails. Proprietors Max Yip Po-kei (far left) and Eugene Chuang Yau-kin (left) are no strangers to marketing decadent products. They also handle hip-hop entrepreneur Damon Dash's watch brand, Tiret, in Hong Kong.

In charge of sales and marketing the pricey stereos, Yip obviously has left his previous profession as a writer and assistant director of local films. Certainly, a couple of amplifiers could pay for an entire film's production. As for those US$150,000 speakers, they stand more than 2 metres high and are as thick as a building's column.
