Stylish, lightweight gift mightier than a sword

SWISS pen maker Caran d'Ache has revived the magic of handwriting with its latest collection, Geneve.
It carried out extensive research to formulate the collection, which has been made especially for connoisseurs.
Geneve encompasses the full range of writing instruments: fountain pens, with a choice of six different nib sizes; ballpoint pens; roller pens; and mechanical pencils.
The all-metal body of the pens, lacquered in black or marbled brown, conveys an impression of durability and sturdiness.
Each nib has been made to ensure that it glides smoothly across the page and never catches or blots and the ink feed mechanism adapts to all writing speeds to ensure total control.
Caran d'Ache said the Geneve collection was designed to convey each writer's unique handwriting style.
Marked with the Cd'A emblem, the writing instruments of the Geneve collection are available at leading stationery suppliers and department stores.
Leading pen-maker Parker has also launched a new range for the Christmas market.
The Sonnet collection has all the traditional Parker traits of style and craftsmanship while the choice of finishes is aimed at giving lasting enjoyment to the writer.
Included in the range is a fountain pen, roller ball, ball pen and pencil in a variety of options.
The fountain pen is in sterling silver while the roller ball comes in gold-plated lacquer. The ball pen and pencil are available in Chinese lacquer. There is also a variety of nibs and accessories available for the range.
Parker unconditionally guarantees the Sonnet range against failures due to faulty materials or workmanship.
Another manufacturer of fine writing accessories, Montblanc, has extended its range of leather goods by the timely introduction of five new products aimed at the Christmas and Chinese New Year market.
Made from black cowhide leather, the New Dimension ll range includes a series of wallets in different styles along with a leather-bound notebook.
The wallets, incorporating different designs, can carry currency and credit cards as well as larger documents like passports and airline tickets.
There is also a wallet with a calendar and address book and another which incorporates a notebook.
Each wallet also has a compartment for a pen which is secured by a flap at the fold.
The company will personalise each leather accessory with either a name or initials in blind, silver or gold stamping.
Montblanc has also introduced new quality leather goods following its acquisition of German leather specialist, Seeger.
Seeger products available in Montblanc boutiques in Hong Kong include an attache case; portfolio garment bag and shirt case and two differently styled hold-alls.
A second style of attache case is also available. This incorporates a matching portfolio integrated in the inner lid which can be removed and used separately.
The pride of the Seeger collection is the garment bag/suit holder which is fashioned from 69 pieces of leather in 195 separate crafting sequences. It comes in three sizes and can hold enough clothes for trips of up to four days.
A folding compartment makes it ideal for women's evening wear.
