PUBLISHED : Saturday, 01 July, 2006, 12:00am
UPDATED : Saturday, 01 July, 2006, 12:00am

What drives it? An 87 brake-horsepowered, 1,298cc, four-cylinder, dynamic variable valve timing engine, with a five-speed manual transmission. Front-wheel drive with rack-and- pinion, power-assisted steering, with a minimum turning radius of 4.6m. Ventilated disc brakes, drums on the rear, with 165/50 R15 alloy wheels.

How fast is it? Tops at about 170km/h and sprints to 100km/h in 10 seconds.

How safe is it? Dual airbags, anti-lock braking system, electronic brake force distribution and brake assist. You also get three-point seat belts with pretentioners and force limiters. However, you're low on the ground.

How thirsty is it? Six litres per 100km on a 40-litre tank.

How Hong Kong friendly? Very. The Copen emits 140g/km of CO2, the fug equivalent of about 1.5 Smart Fortwos.

Nice touches: Cute looks, hard top that folds in about 20 seconds and matching seats. People smile when they see you.

Available: $$179,820 from Crown Motors (tel: 2476 6138) for 36 months or 60,000km (whichever comes first).
