School: Kvennaskolinn in Reykjavik

I'm easy going, independent, reliable and try to be a good person and good friend.

Iceland is an island, so the weather is always changing. One minute it's raining, the next the sun is shining. It's annoying, but you get used to it.

I live in Hafnarfjorour which is a beautiful town just outside of Reykjavik, the capital. I go to school in Reykjavik. It takes 30-40 minutes on the bus.

I go to a college called Kvennaskolinn. My main subjects are sociology and psychology but I also study English, Danish, history, German and geography.

I enjoy my school life mostly because I have great friends. There are many fun people to talk to in my class.

My favourite movie is the French film Amelie but I also like old movies with stars like Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor and Humphrey Bogart.

I listen to music by Franz Ferdinand, The Smiths, Jose Gonzales, Daminen Rice, Leonard Cohen and Elliot Smith.

I come from a big family; I have four sisters and one brother. My elder sisters live abroad. I live with my mother and two siblings because my parents are divorced.

In the summer, I often visit my sisters in Sweden but I have also been to Spain, Norway and Denmark.

My mother usually cooks but I sometimes help her. We eat all kinds of food such as pasta, fish, meat or pizza.

I mostly buy my own clothes but my parents sometimes help me out. I buy my clothes at shops like H&M, Vera Moda, and Topshop.

I work as a part-time waitress in a cafe very second weekend. My job has taught me to be responsible and patient. Many college students have part-time jobs. The most common involve working in a grocery store or bakery.

The thing I like most about my country is that it is clean and beautiful. And it is so small that there is hardly any crime. Everyone feels safe.

Iceland is secluded, which can be a good thing, but it is expensive to fly to other countries. General necessities, such as clothes, are also costly. There are only three or four universities, and the subjects on offer are more limited than in big countries.

I will finish at Kvennaskolinn in 2008. Then I would like to go to university abroad, perhaps in New York. It will be easier to study in a language I know already. But I'm not sure what I want to study yet.

The most popular tourist spots are Gullfoss, which has a big waterfall, Geysir, which is famous for its hot spring, and the unique geothermal spa at The Blue Lagoon. Vatnajokull is the biggest glacier in Europe. There are many beautiful places to visit.

For a shorter trip, you could just visit Reykjavik (pictured above) because there is a lot to see. The Reykjavik Art Festival takes place from May 12 to June 2. You can also go to concerts, art galleries, the theatre or the cinema.
