Question of the week: What's your favourite sport?

Aanchal Wadhwani, 14

No, it's not basketball or football - it's netball. Not many people know much about this sport but it's a cross between handball and basketball. It's not that much fun to watch, but when you're on the court, it's as exciting as watching the World Cup live. It requires a competitive drive and team spirit.

The Brazilian dance/martial art called capoeira. It originated 400 years ago with African slaves in Brazil. I would call it a sport because of its fabulous movements and amazing leg swings, but it looks like a dance. It's fun to learn a skill and exercise at the same time.

Swimming. I learned how when I was five and have been at the pool every week since then. But, if performing arts counts as a sport, that that would be my first choice. I love performing and singing to a live audience. It gets my adrenalin pumping and nothing beats the sound of applause.

I love basketball because it's a team sport. You can play with your pals, learn to co-operate with other people and sometimes even make new friends. It's fun, energetic and competitive. Plus, it keeps me fit and there's no restrictions on who can play - rich, poor, old or young.

Judith Lui, 17

Basketball is my favourite sport because it's a challenging game that develops your communication and teamwork skills. You have to control the flow of the game, and this makes you think faster and respond quicker. You also get to have fun and make new friends.

Laura Mayho, 18

Sports aren't my favourite activity, but I love to swim. It's a great competitive sport and good just for having fun. I also love playing rounders in our PE lessons. But it's mainly just a great way to spend an hour laughing with your friends.

Lindsay Varty, 18

I love rugby. I've played girls' rugby for about five years and love it more than ever. You get to run around like a madman and bash people about. It's a good workout and you can meet interesting and crazy people.
