Suspect held after injured man dies

A 48-year-old man has been arrested as police investigate the death of a man in Tseung Kwan O. The 53-year-old victim was found injured on Monday night and died in hospital early yesterday. The man was found with head injuries on the fourth-floor podium of Sheung Shun House in Sheung Tak Estate. He was taken to Tseung Kwan O Hospital and certified dead shortly before 2.45am. A man was arrested in the same building.

york chow in plea over sick father

Health minister York Chow Yat-ngok appealed to the media to allow his family and relatives privacy to take care of his father after receiving queries about why he had been admitted to the first-class ward of Queen Elizabeth Hospital. His press secretary said the health chief's father was a retired civil servant and admission arrangements were made in accordance with procedures for retired civil servants.

traffic chaos in tunnel

Traffic was disrupted when a collision inside the Cross Harbour Tunnel forced the closure of one of the Hong Kong-bound lanes. The accident, involving a motorcycle and a car, occurred shortly before 10am. The right-hand lane was closed, causing long queues stretching back almost to Kowloon Tong.

18 diners fall ill

Eighteen people fell ill after eating at two branches of the Roda Japanese Restaurant in Hunghom and Causeway Bay on July 1, 2 and 3. The 18, nine women and nine men aged seven to 75, developed diarrhoea, vomiting, abdominal pain, nausea and fever. None needed hospital treatment.
