The agony of choice over school subjects

Am I the only person who gets confused about which class I should choose?

I like mathematics very much but I don't like science.

Everybody in my class knows I have a real block with science.

On the other hand, although I haven't had Chinese literature lessons before, I am very interested in that subject.

So I'm finding it very hard to know which classes to choose.

Our teachers explained the process and gave an example for us not to follow.

It was about a girl who took a science class because lots of her friends were doing it.

But in the end, her physics and chemistry results were not good.

I don't want to be like her, so I have decided to continue my mathematics and not go to science classes. I will also study Chinese literature.

Meaning of treasure

What exactly does the word treasure mean?

Many people only know the superficial meaning of the word.

They think treasure means lots of jewellery and money.

I think people have the wrong concept of the word treasure.

People should spend less time trying to earn lots of money and use that time to be with their parents.

Money can be earned any time, but parents can't stay with you all the time.

Treasure your parents. They are life's real treasure.

Be courageous

The word courageous is related to the idea of courage.

When a person decides to do something bold or overcome their fear, they need to have courage.

If we use our courage wisely, we become courageous.

For example, a person who decides to take their own life, must stop and think first.

As soon as they do, they will realise there is so much to live for.

A person who does that is truly courageous.

Life is to be enjoyed

We all have to face ageing, sickness and ultimately death.

But some people enjoy life more than others.

I think we should enjoy life to the full, since problems that we face will always be there.

We just have to accept that sometimes we cannot change things.

Firstly, I think that it's important to have a positive attitude. We should always look on the bright side.

We should never give ourselves too much pressure as this can make us think negatively.

For example, nowadays many teenagers commit suicide because of their bad results or failed love affairs.

If they could maintain a really positive attitude, these things would not happen.

Secondly, I think it's important to love our parents and friends.

All of us have emotions.

Our emotions are affected by many factors, such as friendship.

To keep ourselves happy, we should show our love and feelings towards our parents and friends.

Try to think positively, relax and be happy.

If we can do that, we can enjoy life without regrets.

Let the sadness out

Many people are always laughing, or they always have a smile on their face, but are they really happy?

Sometimes they're using their happy face to hide their sadness.

If people hide sadness, they can become frustrated.

There's nothing wrong with being sad. When you are, you must express it to someone.

Feel confident about talking. Expressing your feelings to a friend allows that person to know you better.

There is nothing wrong with showing your sadness and revealing your feelings, it can be positive.

Express yourself now and start living in a more beautiful world.

The lesson of Zidane

In the final of the World Cup, many people wanted to see the last performance of France's midfield maestro Zinedine Zidane before he retires.

But he was given a red card and sent off for head butting an Italian opponent.

This shocked everyone. It was an absolutely stupid thing to do.

Zidane has a responsibility to set the best example.

His reaction was caused by something that Marco Materazzi said to him.

There's no point finding out who was guilty.

We have learned an important lesson from this.

Always control your emotions. No matter what happens, we should always think before we act.
