Take action now to save the environment

Young children and teenagers must be taught the importance of protecting the environment.

At school, we have many ways of teaching children the message.

We teach the four 'R' s: reduce, reuse, recycle and replace.

We teach them to recycle paper by using a recycling bin.

That way, children learn just how precious each tree is and they will not waste paper.

If we want our children to live in a healthy environment, we must show them how, starting today!

Thanks for your letter, Irene. It sounds as though you not only have a healthy respect for the environment, but that you also take an active role in protecting it, too.

I think that you would be interested in the environment page that runs in Young Post on Wednesdays. Like you, YP reporter Lilian Goh has a strong interest in the environment. She works hard to bring you the latest news and developments from the green scene.

I hope you take this summer holiday as an opportunity to get out and about in Hong Kong's wonderful country parks. I'm sure that being in the countryside will strengthen your conviction to help the environment.
