Authors seek human touch

This year's Book Fair will see scholars and writers, such as Lo Wai-luen (aka Xiao Si), Liu Xinwu and Hong Ying, speaking on the topic 'In Search of Humanity in the 21st Century'.


The fair opens at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) today. The writers and scholars will speak at 3pm. A discussion session with the speakers will be held at 5pm. Go to www.hkbookfair.com to register.


Materials on the speakers' backgrounds and their works will be provided by the Education and Manpower Bureau to students attending the sessions.


In addition, book experts will comment on new books this year.


Selected by the Arts Development Council, the 25 critics will look at newly published books. Their commentary will be available for free at the fair.


Opening hours are 10am-10pm from today until Friday, and on Sunday. It will stay open on Saturday until 2am. It will close at 6pm next Monday. Tickets are $20.
