Fair-fare plea by disabled

Disabled protesters demand cheaper public transport fares in a rally at the Central MTR station yesterday. About 1,000 from 40 concern groups took the MTR from Tsim Sha Shui to Central and gathered inside the Central and Hong Kong MTR stations. The Hong Kong Blind Union said it had been fighting for discounted fares for the disabled for years, but its calls had gone unheeded. Protesters accused transport operators of failing to fulfil their social responsibilities. They said high fares hampered their social lives and made it harder for them to integrate with society.
