He was the youngest mayor in the world at one time. Ian Borg (pictured) is from a small village in Malta called Dingli, and in 2003 he was elected to his town's top position. Now 20, he's part of a cultural and trade delegation that passed through Hong Kong over the weekend. But back home, this politico prodigy and law student still lives with his parents.

'My 19th birthday was a week before the election so the people of Dingli gave me a nice gift,' Borg said. 'Experience, I didn't have a lot of, but I've been following politics since I was 15 or 16. It's a challenge every day. You wake up and people are calling you, wanting to meet about this and that problem. People are demanding, especially Mediterraneans.'

Malta is the third most densely populated country in Europe. But, Hong Kong was still somewhat overwhelming for the young Maltese official.

'I am used to crowds but we don't have these high buildings and nice hills and mountains. I was amazed walking on Nathan Road last night. Of course, my lady friend was busy buying handbags.'
