Child's headless body found in sea

A postmortem examination will be conducted today on the headless body of a child found floating in the sea at the weekend.

The gender of the child and cause of death were still not known yesterday.

The body, with a four-metre nylon rope wrapped around its waist, was found off Castle Peak Power Station in Tuen Mun by a fisherman shortly after 4pm on Sunday. 'The body was floating about 30 metres off the power station. It was badly decomposed,' a police spokesperson said. 'The gender of the body is still unknown, and medical experts will carry out examination on the body today.'

A police source said the sexual organs were missing.

'The cause of death is yet to be identified. It is also not known if there is anything suspicious about the case. It is still being classified as a 'body-found' ,' he said.

The Tuen Mun district crime squad is investigating the case. Marine police and firefighters were called to the scene.

In 2003, a woman's body was found floating off Tap Shek Kok on October 11. The Asian woman was aged between 25 and 40 and had long hair. She was naked except for a black leather belt that was tied around her waist.
