building worker dies in wire accident

A 48-year-old construction worker died after a 2-metre-long piece of steel cable broke off and landed on him yesterday at a construction site in Wai Tsai village, Lok Ma Chau. He was certified dead after being taken to Northern District Hospital. Police and the Labour Department are investigating the accident.

appeal for information on missing 80-year-old

Police have appealed for information on an 80-year-old man reported missing in Tsuen Wan. Leung Yun was last seen outside Lung Wah Kok Restaurant in Lei Muk Shue Estate on July 5. He is about 1.6 metres tall, weighs 55kg and has a freckled complexion and short white hair. Contact investigating officers on 3661 1171-6 or any police station.

woman falls onto tracks

A woman fell onto the tracks at Siu Hong Light Rail station. Police said she fell from the platform as a train approached. Firefighters were called to free the woman, who was trapped under the train. She was admitted to Tuen Mun Hospital with slight injuries.

policeman crashes bike

A traffic police officer was injured after crashing in Tsing Yi, forcing the closure of two lanes of Tsing Kwai Highway heading to Chek Lap Kok airport while the scene was cleared. The constable was sent to Princess Margaret Hospital.
