Shandong eye honours in Asia

Shandong Luneng manager Ljubisa Tumbakovic has his sights on further honours with his team poised to clinch the Chinese Super League title.

Shandong scored a 2-0 victory away to International Xi'an yesterday, extending their winning streak to 10 matches. The team's run has seen them amass 57 points with six rounds remaining, putting them nearly beyond the reach of the pack. Shandong's nearest rivals, Beijing Hyundai, trail by 19 points with one game in hand.

'Fortunately we have not put a foot wrong this season,' Tumbakovic told Titan Sports newspaper. 'But there's no reason for complacency because we have not yet vindicated ourselves in Asia.'

In Shandong's only two appearances in the AFC Champions League, they lost 6-0 to South Korea's Samsung Sewon and 7-2 to Saudi Arabia's Al Ittihad.
