The best of both shop openings
It would seem to be a conflict of one's own interests to simultaneously hold two events for similar businesses, both of which you own.
On Friday, the Swank Menswear Shop and Givenchy invited guests to store openings. One was at 5pm and the other started at 6pm, and fashion retailer David Hong Kin-hay (pictured) is the boss of both places. At first, we thought this guy's nuts! Turns out he does know what he's doing though. The two stores are opposite each other in a new first-floor section of Harbour City in Tsim Sha Tsui.
'We did it on purpose,' Hong confirmed. 'We've been waiting for this space for a long time. They're good locations and people actually buy here, not just window shop.'
Just what this town needs: another temple to retail. But you can't argue about Hong's taste. In addition to promoting cutting-edge fashion, he also made a point of serving a new tailor-made chocolate called Monde by local chocolatier Andy Tsang. 'It's really good and it's low in sugar.'
